Applications

Logging In

  • I cannot find the email with my password?

You should receive your registration email almost immediately but depending on your email service this may take a little longer. If you have waited a sufficient length of time and you have still not received your password by email you should check the following:

  • Check your junk mail or spam folders in your email program to ensure the registration email has not been labelled as junk.
  • Try to have the password re-sent by visiting the password retrieval page here.
  • If retrieving your password did not work please try to register again making sure you type your email address correctly. Double check your email address! It has been known for users to enter an incorrect email address when trying to register.

  • I am sure I am already registered but I cannot log in?

If you have not logged in for at least 4 months your account may have been removed. You should register again.

Master Form

  • How do I line up my qualifications in the Master Form?

After typing each word press the 'return' key on the keyboard and after typing each Grade press the 'return' key. Even if the qualification name stretches over one line it will usually line up as expected if 'Return' is pressed for a new line.

We may change this in future to make it easier to complete.

  • I have more than 5 previous jobs?

You can enter multiple jobs into the last (fifth) row if necessary or alternatively you can describe other jobs in the 'Additional Information' section.

  • Captialisation in my form is not right - the website keeps changing the case?

This is done on purpose to stop people filling the full form out in capitals which is counter-productive for the HR departments. To get around this for abbreviations such as IT you can type I T (with a space between the letters) or I.T.

  • Which form type should I use?

For medical posts such as medical doctor positions you should use the Medical form type.

If you will be applying for porter and support positions you should use the Ancillary form type.

For all other job types (and this is for the majority of jobs on HPSSjobs.com) you should use the General form type.

We have introduced a new type of form for posts which use Criteria. At the moment these are restricted to senior posts for Directors and Chief Executives but this may be more widely rolled out in future.

  • Why aren't my Master Form changes being saved?

If you have made changes to your Master Application Form but cannot view the changes you have made you may have to clear your browsers cache memory.

Web browsers can 'cache' or save a copy of Web pages from any Website that you visit. When you next visit the site, it is this saved or 'cached' Web page that is displayed. This can make browsing the Web faster. However, the cached/saved Web page that your browser displays, because it is a copy rather than the 'live' version, may not be up to date. In order to resolve this problem you should clear your browsers cache, which deletes any copies of the Web page from your computer and ensures that you are viewing the most up to date version online. A quick method of achieving this is to press the 'Control' and 'F5' keys on your keyboard simultaneously (Note: This may not work with all Web browsers).

Depending upon the browser you are using, you can also clear the cache using the following instructions:

Applications

  • How do I know if I have successfully applied for a job?

A list of the jobs which you have successfully applied for is shown on the 'My Profile' page. Applications from the last 4 months will be shown. If the Application is not list under 'My Applications' on the 'My Profile' page you should apply for the job again.

  • What are you doing about the recent Age Discrimination guidance?

Please note that pending a review of our application forms in light of the new age discrimination regulations your date of birth is still being requested. This will be used for monitoring purposes only. It will not be considered in the selection process. All HPSS jobs are filled solely on merit.
